Recording Multiple Audio Inputs - Reaper new
      #953603 - 15/11/11 09:43 PM
Hi Folks,

I'm new to the forum and after many years of playing live (and still playing live!) I'm in the process of setting up a home studio. After many recommendations, I've downloaded a copy Reaper and I must say, I'm really impressed! I find the ease of use and the plug ins and effects really useful. I did do a Music Tech course a few years ago and so I'm pretty ok with recording techniques and such. The only thing I'm struggling with at the moment, is recording multiple audio inputs on Reaper. For example, if I wanted to record live vocals and a gtr, I can't find where to separate or differentiate the inputs. I'm using a small basic 8x mixer I'm sending the Vox on 1 and Gtr on 2. I just can't seem to assign the tracks in reaper and seem to be recording both on bith channels!

Any help would be greatly received!

Jonny.

Ok So you have multiple tracks created in Reaper yes?
On each track there is a drop down menu under the fader in the Track Control Panel (Left of the screen). You should see the the name of the input, to the right is a little Circle with a down arrow click this and select the input source for that track.

All of this assumes you have an audio interface with multiple inputs of course.
And and do please download the user guide it is incredibly comprehensive and very well done.

Thanks for your replies on this - yes, I agree, I should have RTFM! But as a typical bloke, I thought I didn't need instructions!

Once again, much appreciated!

Jon.
