Slate Trigger verses Drum Agog and Drumtracker Toontrack
      #955987 - 28/11/11 06:14 PM
Hey Guys
I have the steven slate drums and drum agog but it is about 3 years old. I just got the cyber monday offer from slate digital for half off. I am curious is their any advantage in using slate trigger verses drum agog or any of the other software that is out there?

Thank you
John

Depends what it is you're trying to do, and what replacement tasks you need to do most frequently. Which v of Drumagog are you using? v5 is great, though the GUI still frustrates me. The hi-hat tracking is interesting. Earlier than v5 is a little ropey by comparison. I quite like the SPL one, as it's quick to use. But Slate and Toontrack work well too... decisions, decisions...

Oh yeah... just cause there's 50% off, doesn't mean you need it. Are you lacking a decent facility for replacement? If so, think about it. If not, wait until you know what you're missing and get a tool that does the job.

Toontrack Drumtracker is really (just) an audio to MIDI converter. It's great if you have a sampler to play the MIDI info as well, be this Superior Drummer or BFD etc.

Steven Slate and Drumagog incorporate the drum sounds for full replacement.

Having used both of these I would (and did) personally go for Slate Digital Trigger. It's cheaper, does everything Drumagog does and allows you to get your samples over those 'less than perfect' drum sounds easily.
