Pa for knitting lectures

Right long story short my dad bosses dads wife (or something along those lines) hosts
knitting lectures for 30-40 sometimes even 60 people in her spare time
due to
health issues ect she now finds it hard to project her voice as much and wants a small PA
to reinforce her voice so she can speak at normal conversation level and then the PA do
the rest
the room is approx. 60ft by 30 ft (im told never been there) and has
a relatively low ceiling, and a fair amount of windows (dont no if that helps but they
told me so ill tell you XD)
she thinks the best thing for her would be a
wireless lepell style mic as she often wanders around the room ect as she talks and
defiantly want her hands free.
i was think 2 active speakers a small behringer
desk ? but the main problem i can see us having will be the microphone (i know nothing
about mics like this! ) and also feedback as she wants to move around the audience ... she
dose not want it roaring out but quite predictable a nice level with reasonable quality so
the people can hear what she is saying ....
as far a budget goes (they didn't
give me one) but i imagine there quite happy to spend a reasonable amount if the return is
good enough but nothing too stupid
the main thing i feel would be simplicity
as myself or my dad can set it up for her and then say turn it to here and here and all is
hunky dory ...
any ideas?
Thanks
Jack

For simplicity I'd suggest a Yamaha Stagepas system. Good quality for this sort of thing
and easy to set up. For a mic, I'd suggest an AKG520 into a radio pack. Much more secure
in terms of feedback than a lapel if the presenter is happy to wear a mic on the head. I've used this system hundreds of times for school presentations, absolutely rock
solid. Oh, and then I'd imagine you'd need a 'click' track given its knitting
groups................... Bob

If you want simple and quick then one or two Mackie SRM150s might fit the bill. They can
be mounted on mic stands which helps cut down on the size of clutter to be carted
about.
I agree with Bob Bickerton about a headset radio mic system. For
cost/performance and ease of set-up maybe the Sennheiser Freeport Presentation - with
additional headset mic - would be appropriate.

You needn't look any further than the LD Dave 10+ or 12+:
£250-£300 secondhand, hi-fi quality sound, active, and it can also be used as an
instrument PA too. Literally streets ahead of any Stagepas system.

Personally I would forget about a mixer and just go for a headworn radio mic and a single
active speaker (maybe add a second later if needed). Keep things as simple as possible. Even better - go for a speaker with a built in radio mic receiver and matching
belt pack - dB Technologies do one and I'm sure there are others. James.

Perhaps they could knit themselves a system... I agree that a simple powered speaker/mixer
combo with or without builtin radio mic would be the way to go.

Thanks for your replies only main problem is the lecture really is set on it
being a lepel mic... (sorry forgot to say) as i see it the speakers arnt too
importent ... as any decent enough "branded" speaker will probs do the job in my opinion
were more worried about the mic feeding back we quite like the
look of this http://www.dv247.com/microphones/sennheiser-freeport-presentation-set-lava
lier-wireless-microphone-system--28313thoughts? Thanks again

That's why I was specifically thinking of the dB Technologies Basic 110 system which is
described at http://www.realsound.co.uk/portable-pa-systems/db-technologies-portable-pa
.htmlalthough the prices there seem a little expensive - I'm sure I've
seen complete packages including a lapel radio mic for just over £500. You may
be able to find something that is mains powered only for less. James.

thoughts?
Only that she's making life hard for herself
by resisting a headset. Does she realise how light and unobtrusive they are? Perhaps
she's thinking of what the old-time telephone operators used to wear!
