Correct Cable for Behringer HA8000 new
      #962476 - 07/01/12 10:24 PM
I was wondering whether someone could please advice on a correct able.

I have just bought a Behringer HA8000 headphone amp. The main inputs at the back of the unit say Left (mono) and Right (Balanced). I need to monitor sound from the headphone output socket on my Emu 0404 USB interface.
I assume I need some type of ¼” jack cable which splits in to two but haven’t been to figure out which one to use.

Many thanks!

You want something like this:

Insert Cable

Wherever you get it you should look for an 'insert cable' with a stereo/headphone jack splitting to two mono jacks. Obviously the mono jacks go to the left and right innputs of either input on the HA8000.

Many thanks!

Just so I understand what I am doing, do you mind explaining why they would call the right input balanced if both side of the cable are mono.

The inputs are suitable for balanced signals. It looks like they've chosen to avoid making the panel look too busy by not repeating the info (use left input for mono operation, same signal going to both ears).

Connecting an insert lead from a headphone socket as described will mean your signals will be unbalanced (as opposed to mono) but that's not a problem.
