Best simple hardware midi arranger?

Hi
Just wondering what people's views are on hardware midi arrangers, for
people like myself who are tired of using computers and software to do that kind of thing,
with all the irritating glitches and so on.
I'm looking for something simple,
that just takes in midi, records it, allows easy manipulation of the tracks and bits (with
all the usual stuff like quantize), and outputs it as midi. No onboard sounds, no keyboard
attached, no audio out. Just plain midi arranger, simple simple.
I can't find
anything that simple.
cheers in advance! Charles

If you mean hardware sequencer, then Akai MPC series.

You don't have to use the onboard sounds / sampling

I've got a QY100 that I load tracks I've done in Reaper onto. Use it as backing for the
band into my JV1010. Advantage of on the fly transpose, in case the singer changes their
mind; tempo change; mute tracks as required etc.
Not the easiest thing to get
right - seems like you have to send it 16tracks, that you have to make sure all the
program changes don't happen on the same beat etc etc.
I did have a plan that
I'd take it on the train with me and compose as I went... But quite useful. Can even
configure to take fingered chords with a programmed riff - Radio GaGa anyone?

MPC - sampler = ASQ10
My first suggestion.
ASQ has 4 MIDI outputs x 16 MIDI channels = 64
MIDI tracks.

Interesting...
the ASQ-10 is definitely from the ark but very function specific
which is cool - but couldn't see any on eBay
the others are already cramming in
more than I would need, but maybe that's the way to go, on eBay even today.
Whichever way, go retro in other words. I didn't know even what to look for before
starting this thread.
So many thanks
Chaz

Currently using one of these
Absolutely brilliant for simple ideas
creation and bashing out ideas which I then feed into my MPC.
Also rather nice
using the trigger outs for triggering analogue drum modules
