Hello All. Seriously considering going down the active road and would like to keep it
small (Ford Focus Hatchback).I'd need about 3k of power for some of the larger venues. Is
anyone aware of somewhere (north west area) i could demo the set up i mentioned otherwise
i may have to buy without listening (something i've never done before).I'm currently using
Adlib Audio system . http://www.adlibsolutions.co.uk/product/AA1214__12HL6_System/26/74.aspxSounds great but i'm looking for an even lighter alternative. The back's
getting a bit touchy. The other system i have been looking at is the Q K12's
with 2 Ksubs but RCF seems a bit more respected i feel. Any thoughts,
suggestions would be helpfull. Thanks

55 views and no thoughts.I think i better re phrase this. Is anyone using the 722a's
at present, who can confirm their quality.perhaps up against the QSC K series. At present i
only have You tube clips to go by.

I've used RCF 312 & 712 next to each other. When used in quiet situations I found the
712 too noisy, lots of hiss when close up. Obviously not really a problem if you want to
make a lot of noise. Even though the cheaper speaker I prefer the 312.
Sorry no
idea about the 2" tweeter but 1" doesn't seem too bad.
The 902 sub isn't light, I
seem to remember it being about 6 stone heavy!
whoops wrong sub, I meant the
702.

In nut shell no! I have a 902as, 712a and 422a
The 902 is no use under my 712's
or 422's. I can produce a very nice sound at lower levels but the tops leave the sub
standing when I need to push it
The 902 seems to clip very easily and I'm going
to experiment with an eq next weekend to roll off some of the really lows to give it a
better chance.
I'm getting rid of my 902 soon and replacing it with either
passives or a db technologies sub15D as it boasts a 3db increase in the max spl.
Certainly going to a 15" driver seems to be a logical improvement
A pal of mine
has a set of 310s and is interested in my sub and I think it would be better suited for
them
In all honesty I'm better off not using the sub as I can get more vol just
using the tops obviously not as much bass

Interesting Dave i'd have thought a 1k sub would have a bit of juice but i'll certainly
have to re-think those subs.Do you find that your 712's have the hiss etc that Muso Steve
has.And did you manage to A B them against the 722's.
Thanks for the reply

The subs boast a 1000w power amp but i jave been told they just have a 500w rms driver
installed. despite the max spl rating being 130db the small 12" driver just doesnt move
enough air. Ironically the 705 sub (700w but same 130db) is "louder" and makes your
trouser bottoms flap due to its 15" driver. only 5 kg heavier.
Hiss - yes there
is a hiss from the high frequency driver but its no louder than mackie's, alto's etc etc.
You only hear it when there is no music playing and you are stood very close.
Never did an A/B with the 722 but i can only imagine it would have been slightly better.
