i am looking to replace the jack on my strat with a flat chrome plate to house a 13pin connector. Does anybody know anyone who would be able to help. Thank you!

No idea chum. Personally I would just get a bit of 1.5mm aluminium and make one, stainless steel if you like to bleed a lot.

Dave.

Personally, I would drill into the side of the Strat to install the GK connector using the supplied plastic plate and keep the original Jack intact. Other than that, I would just get a piece of scrap mild steel (or ali as Dave suggests) and make my own using a Dremel or hand files and a drill. Then I would get it chromed or plated to match the original.

But before you start, you need to make sure the socket fits neatly inside the rout for the jack socket. I've fitted quite a few GK pick-ups over the years, but no one has ever wanted to fit it in place of the original socket on a Strat, and although I have a GK equipped bass hanging around at the moment, I don't have a Strat to hand to check for you.

Thank you both! I have bled enough recently having built my own iso cab. I have a jackplate which has worked fine for years but as i now plan to gig it i think the plate is a bit thin.

I could probably do it myself, who would be able to chrome it for me and what should i make it from?

Thanks again!

There are many options Distracted.

Hard drawn aluminium. You can get that in 50x 300mm lengths from B&Q. Polish with fine emery then finer emery and oil then SolvolAutosol and you will get a brilliant finish but it will need a coat or two of clear laquer to stay that way. You could get it anodized, black would be cool...

If you want to have it plated start with brass (or you could just polish and spray).

Easy answer. Degrease the orignal flimsy and bond a piece of Formica to it with Araldite. Clamp it in a vice, makes a very stiff composite and the world is your oyster for colours!

All these materials can be scrounged by making a nuisance of yourself at the various workshops.

(I could send you a bit of ally.)

Dave.
