Odd "ping" noise from eDrums new
      #967700 - 01/02/12 11:26 AM
Hello SOS Forum readership.

I hope everyone is well. A little adive needed if possible please. So last night I was over at a friend's house and we hooked up his Alesis DM5 drum kit via a standard MIDI cable to his Foucusrite Saffire sound card. This is normally entirely uneventful, but this time for some reason every time a drum was struck there was a pretty irritating "ping" sound (like the noise from "pong" old school Atari fans) audible along with the sound of the drum we were triggering from the EXS24 in Logic.

I tried tooling around in Logic's MIDI settings and also in the MIDI set up Utility of the mac but no dice. I am also pretty sure that the sound isn't being generated from inside Logic, but I can't quite remember why I thought that.

Any ideas how to stop it happening again? - it was really annoying and got in the way of what could otherwise of been an enjoyable session of bad drum playing.

Many thanks in advance!

Luke

You must surely have the MIDI routed to something. If it's not an external synth then it must be a plug-in - maybe something being used to generate a metronome click?

Thanks for the reply - Its a bit annoying as I am not there at ther moment to check, but I am pretty sure that I just had the MIDi coming into MIDI channel 1 and that was that. It was really odd....

I'll maybe have to post again next time I am round at my friend's place...

Thanksagain
