Seem to have recovered?
Just had a flyer from cpc.co.uk and they are back to
posting prices as against phone first as a month ago.
As a taster: Samsung 500G
£57.95. WD Cavier black 500G £67.95 all +vat.

That’s quicker than expected Dave - as long as they actually have stock at those prices
it’s very encouraging news for the consumer

Are these external hard disk prices? Internal are still inflated.

Did the tsunami and subsequent increase in prices affect RAM as well? I am thinking of
adding some RAM, but am in no hurry - if prices elevated but are expected to drop sometime
relatively soon, I can wait.
Thanks -

I wasn't sure Dave, hence my question. It'd seem that you were
initially referring to laptop 2.5 inch drives having looked at the site.
Thanks
for the info.

Green's at *2TB* were that price before the tsunami. I bought three of 'em...
Rather than £65 for 2TB Greens, they are now at around £105, which is better than then
£240-ish(!) they had risen to some months back.
So I'd say prices are
recovering, but not yet recovered...

I was really just pointing out originally that cpc.com (and
others) had a policy of not quoting prices for a time and that THAT policy has now ceased.
I do not follow the prices of hard drives, ram or any other computer
commodity! If it were not for the fact that I am on cpc's mailing list I would have been
in ignorant bliss about the whole matter. As it was, the flyer dropped on the mat and so a
few minutes later I thought it moot to pass on the information.

Just checked the pricing history on the Black (as an example) noted above. The price is
stil 50% above where it was the week before everything went to pot, but I think demand has
just slowed down and things are not getting any worse at least... that said availability
of harddrives to channel is still pretty poor. Memory wasn't affected this time
around. In fact memory is at this point pretty much at an all time low, so fill ya boots
if your in need.
