Interference on screen from Alesis MK2 Monitor
      #972602 - 27/02/12 01:44 PM
Hello
I'm having a bit of a weird problem with my computer. I have a Dell PC with windows 7, Delta 1010 pci soundcard and a pair of Alesis MK2 Active Monitors. When I turn on one of the monitors I get 'wavey' interference lines on my computer screen, its really annoying me and I guess its an electrical problem? Has anyone had a problem like this before?
Thanks,
Matt

If you are running an old CRT monitor, then the cause is electromagnetic interference: the magnetic field from the speakers is deflecting the electrons in the screen's cathode ray.

Solutions include putting a screen (mesh) of ferrous material between the speaker and the CRT; moving the speaker further away, or swapping the CRT for an LCD monitor.

If you are already running an LCD monitor, then buggered if I know.

On top of what Sam said, the only reason I can think you might see interference on a LCD would be down to the signal being interfered with on the way rather than the monitor itself. You mention only one speaker causes the problem, does the speaker in question by any chance have the monitor cable run behind it/cable tie'd near it? I suppose a analogue VGA cable might be able to pick up interference.

Are you using a VGA (D-SUB)cable or a HDMI/DVI? If it's the former try changing it for one of the later.
