title says it all, really - the power supply on the microdock for my EMU 1616 PCI has just died and i can't get any kind of response out of EMU (as per usual). i know these units were popular back in the day so i'm hoping someone has a power supply stashed away somewhere that they would be willing to send to me.

anyone? please?

Mmmmm - yes and no - I have a 1616m that I don't use anymore (actually used not at all as I only used the PCMCIA card a few times and not the main box at all), but I would only want to sell it complete.

Though I am not that far from you, Oxford way.

thanks guys - i saw the listing on the US site but they don't ship to the UK, and typically enough the UK site doesn't sell them. sourcing a UK dealer is proving tricky, hence my request here!

Amazon.com also don't ship to the UK as far as i can tell, but thanks for the tip.

in the complete absence of any response from EMU themselves (thanks guys, there's a reason my next purchase won't be from your range, and it's not the quality of the kit ) i'm going to punt on the guy from malaysia and see what i can jury-rig up from the PCI card to get some sound in the meantime.

I don't know the interface at all well but is it just 48volts DC at about 400mA you need on a co-ax power plug?

If so there are UK sources. I bought something similar a year or so ago. If I can find it you are welcome but you might have to fit the correct sized plug and check the polarity.

Not a lot of help I am afraid! If you have to have the right, "plug n play" supply best wait for an exact replacement to come up or an Emu expert.

Yes Tom but 48V is only alluded to, we have yet to have hard evidence that the Emu IS that supply or what the connector size/polarity is.
Contrary to popular belief, you can't put the smoke back!

One is the ES18B, the other the GS18B...the specs look very similar, as long as the pinouts are the same.

News back from the distro is that they don't have any in the UK at this point and the USA isn't too hopeful at this moment in time either. Probably best off trying Tom's suggestion, as I know he's got a stack of EMU gear on his desk right now, so if he's worked out what it is then that's most likely your best bet.

I cant see that it will make any difference.

The UK meanwell site doesnt even list the es range which makes me think it might be US only, probably to do with the mains plug its bundled with.
As creative reckon the ES18B will work on both devices, i cant see why GS18B wont work the same.

same voltage, same connector, got to be the same polarity, otherwise the ES one wouldnt work on the 1616m.

My understanding that the only difference between the 1616 and 1616m is that the 1616m (m = master) has much better pro. quality converters (and cost more, of course).

that's my understanding too, but i wasn't sure if the different components would require a different power supply. hopefully not.

i did eventually get a response from EMU. they suggested to look on eBay and gave me a link to the guy in malaysia.

Same thing happened to my E-MU 1616m power adapter a couple of weeks ago. Got the same response from E-MU; the malasian ebayer

Surprisingly, E-MU's response was really quick. Shame the quality of response wasn't that good.

So yeah, thanks gentlemen. You've saved me a lot of headaches
