Hello,

So I want to buy a loop pedal. Late to the game, I know. It's not actually for me, it's for my alt-folk-soloist fiancee. (Ahhhh... Shh, don't tell her.)

The Boss RC-30 seems like the best bet, but I'm concerned about the apparent 1/4-second drop out between phrases. So wondering: are there any alternatives out there? Don't need pre-recorded loops or anything - much more interested in effects, usability, and suitability for live use (including with mics).

I have used and liked digitech's stuff, but the Akai headrush is supposedly really good for one man(woman) banding.
But unfortunately I have zero experience of them.

And yes it does seem like the boss/roland ones do have an issue with delayed changeover.

Dub FX uses the Boss RC 50.

i picked up an EH Memory Man with Hazarai over xmas and found the looper on it simple and effective. it's not the most sophisticated out there but it is fun.

Mr Giltrap uses a Boss RC20-XL.

Now discontinued, but serves him well:
