Advice on Stage Monitor
      #975245 - 11/03/12 11:56 PM
I want to get a budget stage monitor for vocals in a soft rock band.

I've narrowed it down to the box MA120 MKII http://www.thomann.de/ie/the_box_ma120_mk_ii.htm

and

the box MA150 http://www.thomann.de/ie/the_box_ma150.htm

I know the 150 has more power but is it more for drum and bass sounds?

Do you think the 120 would be powerful enough for vocals in a soft rock band?

Thanks!

The MA120 is perfectly OK - nothing special, but it does the job. Unless you've got a big stage, high on-stage levels, and/or you're wanting to put lots of bass guitar through it, it should be OK. I've used it myself with a fairly noisy punk band, and not had a problem with the vocalist being heard. (The vocalist being a bit sh1t and an up-himself w%nker was more of aproblem, but that's another story.)

Try the Alto sxm112' , its coaxial, 400w RMS, small footprint, well made. Used one one Saturday. Impressive for the price point.

we use 2 of the 15's at a venue i work at and theyre great for vocal monitoring. i do see them clipping often when the bands ask for more kick or more bass. theyve not broken yet either

I've got a 150 if your interested? It's taking up space in all honesty. Message me if your interested! Very good condition, only used it like twice!
