Hey.
So I hate ultrabeat. I don't know exactly why, I just don't like it. I've
got Battery 3 so am all ready in the sample / individual beat department but I need a
decent drum sequencer to use. I used to use cubases one, which I found excellent for
automation and midi controls. Easy layout. If there are any ones for mac/logic that are
similar to that sort of standard logical layout that would be ace. What do people find
easiest to create complex beats with in logic here?
Freeware ones would be
epic, but if theres a good commercial one I dont mind spending a few bucks.

The arrange page, and Logic's MIDI editing functions,
particularly hyper edit, the matr... piano roll editor, and the event list is what I
generally use, alongside with MIDI controllers such as keyboards and drum pads etc.
But to be honest, I outgrew basic drum machine pattern programming in the late
eighties... ymmv of course.
I might use Ultrabeat more if it supported
real-time pattern entry like, oh, all drum machines ever made from 1983 onwards, but Apple
don't seem to get this and seem to think everyone wants to paint in beats with a mouse,
which I find a needlessly slow and painful approach to making music...
