Recommendations for speakers

Hi, Can anyone recommend a set of good entry-level, cost-effective PC speakers.
I'm playing guitar into my PC via a Line 6 UX1 interface and POD Farm amp
simulator. At the moment I'm listening to it thru a set of headphones from the UX1, not
ideal.
Many thanks

Most of M-audio's range of monitors are reasonably priced and are a pretty decent entry
level .

Have you considered not buying speakers, but rather high quality headphones instead? Some well-respected engineers and musicians (including admins/moderators from the
SOS fora) recommend quality headphones over entry-level and mid-range speakers/monitors
for ability to mix accurately, if I understand correctly (with frequent use of reference
tracks, no different than if using professional-level speaker/monitors that cost the price
of a small SUV). This would especially hold true in rooms where entry level
speakers are likely to be used - acoustic nightmares, improved but often not curable with
acoustic treatment. Good quality headphones can bypass these problems, often at a lower
price than the inferior entry level speakers they would replace. http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/jan07/articles/mixingheadphones.htmhttp://www.soundonsound.com/sos/jan10/articles/studioheadphones.htm

Is this a joke? M-audio's speakers
serve no purpose whatsover.

Here's a gratis chapter on speakers from SOS's very own Mr. Mike Senior's highly acclaimed
(and personally recommended! FWIW) book, Mixing Secrets for the Small Studio: http://kindleweb.s3.amazonaws.com/app/1.0.11.053.093655/KindleReaderApp.ht

I'd like to recommend picking out some of your favorite commercial music, and listening to
it on several sets of monitors. (maybe some of your friends have some you could check out)
Choose the monitors that sound best to you. No matter how hard you try, you will always
gravitate towards mixing to suite your personal tastes. When you find a set of monitors
that you enjoy listening to, your mixes will tend to fall in line with the commercial
music that you used to audition with. If you aren't in a position to test monitors
before you buy, at least get used to the ones you do end up with by listening to well
respected, well done mainstream music for a while. Listening to music for homework... My bedroom computer has a $50 Altec Lansing setup, with 2 small satellites and a sub. I
like it just fine.

m-audio speakers? They are too blur and not enough fidelity for me.
