public lecture mics and phasing

hi. We have to record a series of lectures by a number of different speakers. We
will provide speakers to cover the audience (150 but sharing a hall with a relaxed gym
type physical activity) and a monitor for the speaker to hear questions from the floor
courtesy of radio mics on fishpoles.
My questions: How do x2 mics commonly
used for a speaker cope with the 3:1 rule? A colleague suggested a live audience may not
notice a small amount of phasing but a recording may sound a bit worse.
not the
most beautifully composed questions but any thoughts appreciated

Mostly we just use one of them!
Actually you usually find that the lecturer is
all over the place and cannot be relied upon to talk anywhere near any mic!
If
you are using two, pull one back by a few db, it makes the combing much less serious, but
generally the best way is to get a lav on the speaker if there is any way to make this
possible.
