Looking through the thread on here with recommended laptops I saw someone recommended the
Dell Alienware M17X with the old Q9000 Quad core processor. this got me looking at this
range of Laptops and they look like a good compromise between a desktop and a thin laptop.
Looks like parts are easily changeable. Thing is for the price of a used Q9000 I could get
a refurbished one with an i7 2630QM , it has a smaller (14") screen but I wouldn't mind
that but I have no confirmation that these are ok with Audio. I have an HP with an i5 430m
, it runs ok but I find it is easy to max out one of the cores with some of the VST fx I
use. Thus I am looking for something that will take what I transfer from my old desktop (
a Q6600 Quad core ) without maxing out! Seems a little strange going backwards to get a
working laptop but if it's necessary I'll do it.
