I have an iPhone, and am in the process of building my business case for an iPad

I already use some music apps on the iPhone, and am looking forward to getting stuck into some of the iPad only apps such as the Korg IMS-20 and iElectribe (although the iPad will fulfil a number of functions for me, mostly work-related rather than music).
And now, the question... all the music apps I have on the iPhone allow some sort of file export, but this generally only a stereo mix of the various channels that make up the tracks. Is this common with all iOS music apps? I would have thought that many users would be keen to create, say a drumbeat in iMaschine, and then export the individual elements separately for further mangling in a DAW - but as far as I can tell, this isn't possible.
Is this a limitation of iOS, or do the app developers not want us developing the output of their tools further on a PC / Mac? Or is this just not a problem for most people? The kind of power available in iMaschine and iElectribe means a crying shame we can't easily use them in full-blown mixes.
Cheers,
Rich
