Softsynth with long release or hold? new
      #981035 - 08/04/12 08:03 PM
Hi, I want to trigger A sofsynth with my midi guitar, leave it droning and playing along to the drone. I have been doing this on an Oberheim Xpander but it's a bit too vintage and fragile to cart to gigs. SO I am looking for a softsynth that'll do very slow release times. Haven't found a single one yet. Any suggestions?

What does "very slow" mean? 1 minute? 10 minutes? An hour?

1 minute would do. the Oberheim can go on forever it has a second amplifier on the filter but as I say reckon 1 minute and beyond.

And a sustain pedal is not an option?

Cakewalk's Rapture can do single envelope points of huge length. I gave up after dragging an amp envelope point past about one and a half minutes and I haven't found a limit yet - especially as you can have multiple points.

I guess any synth with complex envelopes can do something similar... for instance Absynth can do massively long envelopes as well. I think quite a few softsynths will do what you want...

Maybe you could try the free demo of the OP-X.
