I'm curious to know if ported monitors, and specifically the KH120's like to see a certain
SPL level for a specified frequency response measurement, and if so, how much-if at
all-the performance of the lower end drops with reductions in SPL level. For example,
listening within a couple of meters at around 75-80-85 dB C.
The lf response of ported monitors does become less efficient with lower SPL -- or put
another way, the bass falls off disproportionately as the level falls. Basically there
needs to be a certain minimum airflow for the port resonance to work properly.
I've not seen any monitor specify a minimum level.
