Insurance for composers home studio in garden 'outbuilding' (urgent!)

Hello guys, hope you're all well. My new countryside home studio is nearly
ready (converted farmhouse in garden a few meters away from main residential building) and
will be needing insurance asap. The majority of insurers don't want to cover
'outbuilding' for more than a few grand and the only successful quote I've had so far from
Sterling is twice the price of my London setup! I've been looking at home insurance so
far. HELP!! Maximum thanks, Mash

I'm with Allianz http://www.allianzmusicalinsurance.co.uk/Still the first
year with them (and no claims ever) as I had to leave Hencilla Canworth because they
wanted a monitored alarm put in. I would also get a quote from them as they may have a
threshold that that clause doesn't apply to.

No, a home based studio, but both are specialist insurers. Steve Hill on here
(not that he pops by much these days) had a garden based studio I think.

Funny, they came back the cheapest for us and placed us with a reputable insurer as well.
Though I must point out that this was just for staff and third parties, not contents.

That's getting more Baskerville Hall than Blandings Castle... Surely if you are seeking to
recreate Woodhouse's Shropshire of the 1930's Red Bladder, as I seem to remember you
suggesting the other day, you need to install some scary aunts?

A friend of mine once told me that we are the closest thing he has ever met to The Adams
Family!
I have had several scary aunts, but fortunately they are either very
far away or dead.

I could rent you one, cheap. And she's used to the ways of the aristocracy, having been
the cleaner oop at castle for many years.

They're the people we used to
use for our studio insurance.

For a garden shed studio? Really? I'd absolutely you check they'll cover it as its
normally only buildings with naming permission and concrete foundations. Double check....
You may regret it at claim time.

All sorted now, big thanks for all input it's been very useful - as always. Quote narcoman:

Haha,
don't worry it's a proper concrete foundation, secure separate building dude (an awesomely
solid characterful 300 year old one as it happens!) - just generally in insurance speak
anything detached from the main home is classed as an 'outbuilding', so to them you're
essentially asking to insure an arse load of music gear...in a shed.
Looking
forward to having you down - let's get Korff involved too.
