Akai EIE (red) to record drums? new
      #986296 - 08/05/12 10:53 AM
Hello! I'm new to the forums but have been reading for a while.

I'm looking to record drums and make some DIY CDs, and I need something cheap that can record 4 tracks for around £130.
I noticed the Akai EIE has 4 inputs and was wondering if anyone had used this to record drums, or if it can even record 4 at one time?

May thanks.

Akai EIE

Hi Adam, there is a review of this interface in sound on sound this month I think it should work well for your needs..

In general drum recording requires more than 4 inputs to unless you go for a simple set-up of stereo pair and bass drum and snare YMMV

Personally Adam I would let the EIE "mature" a bit in the marketplace.

It is a bit more money but do consider the Tascam 1800 and you might find a good deal on the older Tascam 1641 for more mic channels.

I have just spotted "£130" ? I cannot find anyone selling the Pro under £199? If you are looking at the cheaper, usb1.1 version I do not think that can do 4 tracks at once and it is limited to 16bits AFAIK.
Dave.
