Top Speakers: 12's or 15's with 18's?
      #986808 - 10/05/12 11:20 PM
As you all know, I'm a big fan of the EV ELX speakers (actually just ordered 4 12's for monitors :-) ) and LOVE the sound quality they produce. I have a set of 15's and 18's for FOH, and they do the job, but sometimes I find the 15's slightly boomy even when high passed. Do you guys prefer 12's with 18's, or 15's with 18's? This is going to be for a mixed rig (DJ and PA work), as you have seen, end plan is 4 tops and 8 subs, with 4-6 monitors. I was thinking about just purchasing another set of 12's for my tops, and use the 15's as drum monitors. What do you guys think? I've heard most prefer 12's, some prefer 15's, it's a tossup game. Go!

Iv been working with two 18" two 12" and 2 tweeters for about 4 years playing smallish gigs, and most of the time only use the 18"s without the 12"s as thats enough power, so what im trying to get at is that id go with the 12"s as they will just give your rig the kick that it needs
