Adding cover art on a master cd new
      #988024 - 17/05/12 04:43 PM
Hello every body
I couldn't find my answer anywhere so I must ask how I can add the cover art to my [self] mastered cds here.
Thank you.

Add a data session after the audio session and put things like cover art, videos, lyrics and even extra songs in there.

Do you mean printing on the CD itself?

If so, it's just a case of finding a printer with a CD-printing facility, such as one of these Epson models:

http://www.epson.co.uk/Store/Printers-and-All-in-Ones

And then using CD-R blanks that will accept on-body printing, sich as one of these:

http://www.svp.co.uk/index.php?q=Printable+CDR

The silver-face printable discs can end up looking almost indistinguishable from commercial pressed discs.

Yup, we used to have a Microboards GX-1 Disc Printer/Burner. Burns and prints 50 at a time. Was a good earner for a while but we couldn't keep up with the bigger companies and their booklets and shrink wrapping so we ended up selling it.

Funnily enough, we found the software that came for Mac a little bit confusing and could never get the thing aligned. We ended up using a separate PC for it and that worked fine with it's software.

It can be a real pain though I must say. With alignment and getting the ink levels right so it doesn't overdo it and come off on your or the customer's hands. £45 a cartridge as well after delivery for the ink. You can get discs with a lacquer on them that look great but cost the earth.

I only say because its so cheap these days to get them done elsewhere with booklets etc and it takes the hassle off your hands.

Thank you all but I don't mean printing on the cd body. I just want a picture be added to say jet audio when they play it back. I will try solution #1. more comments are appreciated.

It is also possible that they're dragging the cover art and information from one of the online databases like Gracenote. You may need to register your CD with Gracenote (and all the other online databases) before it will be recognised.

Thank you James. But how can I add track information(artist, composer,...) to corresponding tracks please? If that data session is separate then how is it connected to tracks? Is there a coding or a wizard kind software?

Things like track titles and artist can be added to the CD Text fields of a standard audio CD - but again, iTunes and Windows Media Player will ignore this and just look in the online Gracenote database.

the best way is prob to do both. Put it in your data fields and also submit the info to gracenote. How involved/expensive is gracenote? How does one get a serial number? Most of us are plugging away in home studios.

Apparently you can do it from within the iTunes software. I haven't done it myself but there's an option somewhere in the software to submit the data for your CD to the online database.
