Acoustic Treatment Advice for Home Studio - Picture Included new
      #989045 - 22/05/12 11:08 PM
I recently finished building my recording desk console and I am ready to start recording soon. However, I have not acoustically treated the room yet. Can you give me some tips on what acoustic treatment to buy and where to put it? I have a picture included below:

I realize that my monitors are not in ideal positions. One is directly in the right corner (not shown in the picture). The other one is on the left side of the desk, but is not in the corner (so that it is equal distance from my ears for mixing). Obviously, I would have to treat the right corner. Should I build a wall on the left side of the left monitor so that it is the same as my right monitor? Or, should I shove it to the corner (which isn't equal distance). Or, is it fine where it is? THANKS!

Have a read through the following links.

You'll need to supply some dimensions and a floor plan for any reasonable pointers on here I think.

Richie's right, we would need to see the dimensions of the rest of the room before being able to comment.
That said those two bare walls to the either side of your monitors look to be the first reflection point and would need some broadband absorbers on them.

Have you tested the room to see where your peaks and nulls are?
