A plugin to add wow & flutter?
      #989450 - 24/05/12 10:40 PM
Any recommendations for a plugin to add tape wow & flutter?

I gave http://www.interruptor.ch/ a quick go there - it's pretty old (2006) and seemed a bit over the top (aiming at generating a very noticable dub-style special effect).

I just want something *subtle*.

Other threads on the usual sites brought up by google at all about half a decade old too.

Any recommendations?

Oh - good call - I've already been using the free version of his Ferox for years now, and I use it on nearly everything! - will check out this one too.

UAD do very good Ampex and Studer tape emulations, both of which feature surprisingly authentic wow & flutter control.

I love it that we actually yearn to add in all the effects that gear makers spent years trying to get rid of. Tape hiss is also now a regular addition to some folks mixes. I can see a day when we might all crave a little bit of mains hum as an effect too...or has someone already started adding that???

How about using a tape-delay plugin, with zero delay and regeneration; just the tapey effects?

They're usually too obvious! I will check out Reelbus tonight. It only costs €10 too!
