Not to be rude, but who are you an a&r for, if you need to ask that? Ask them for the money, as they'll be making it if you find someone good.

Seeing as you are an apprentice, it made me think. Have you tried enrolling for the next series of The Apprentice? It's intensive and competitive but there's 250k on offer. Certainly worth a try I would have thought?

Hope that helps.

HARSH!

For what's it's worth - you aren't going to get any arts council / trust / lottery / public funding to help this label, unless you can demonstrate clearly that you are meeting a social need of some kind, supporting an under-represented genre in a not-for-profit kind of way etc etc.

If this is not the case, then go looking for brand sponsorship from a company that very clearly fits your label's image. It's not easy, but it happens.

I probably agree with the above sentiment, though (however obliquely stated) - if you are already capable of doing the above, and your label is useless enough not to have given you any pointers at all, then you should probably leave them immediately and set up your own label.

The best way to get funding is to set yourself up as a black lesbian arts collective. I know, I saw it on 'Edge of Darkness'

No, you must be confusing that with the sign saying "AT ALL COSTS, KEEP BEING AN UTTERLY HUMOURLESS TWUMP!"

Although the OP, DMP, comes across as one of those "I lost my father down a goldmine please send me some money to buy a digger to get him back and we will deposit £billionytrillions in your bank account" scam, doesn't this....

That's a little unfair... I'm sure some of his best friends are in black lesbian arts collectives.
