Steinberg UR824 - plugins

Hi

A question about using the channel strip and vst plug ins that come with the Steinberg UR824 (as opposed to direct monitoring with the dsp effects). Does anyone know if they are "software" versions of the dsp effects or are they hard wired to the dsp itself? Do they cause any latency?
