Hi SoS'rs everywhere,

I signed up to Twitter and followed SoS successfully but I'm chagrined to admit that I have no frickin clue how to send a tweet to SoS for the Esub contest. Do I do it from my soundcloud dashboard or from my Twitter account (is that my Tweetdeck? if so, can I play Jean-Luc Picard rather than Kirk, I like Patrick Stewart more than Shatner)

If someone can enlighten me, I'd be grateful. Plus I could have a conversation with someone who takes Twitter and Facebook seriously and I might be able to understand their answers ;-) That is, if the new lingo doesn't give me anaphylactic shock =:-O)

Not such a dumb question. Some of us are right there with you. I recently tried to enter a competition using Twitter and couldn't figure it out for the life of me!

If anyone can offer a four-sentence bluffer's guide to Twitter or Facebook I'd be interested - the help pages are useless.

Hmmm, Elf, it looks like the young folk aren't going to help us, at least not in time to meet tonight's SoS deadline. Little sods, I hope I can hit them with my Zimmer frame next time they take us for an outing from the old-folks-on-the-edge-of-death retirement home.

Hi dubbmann,

To send a tweet to us, log in to your Twitter account, then click on the button 'compose new tweet' - not sure where it is on Tweetdeck as I don't use it, but on the twitter.com homepage it's in the top right hand corner. Then simply write @sospublications somewhere in your tweet. The @ sign sends a notification to the username sospublications (that's us), so all you need to write is a short message including this tag and also a link to your track.

For example, you might write:

"Hey @sospublications, here is my competition entry [url=http://www.mylink.com"]http://www.mylink.com"[/url]

You can send tweets to anyone once you know their @... username.

NB. Tweets are public, so if you want to send a private message to another Twitter user, you need to go to their profile and find the button for 'Send Direct Message' (referred to on Twitter as a DM).
