Missing Note In Galaxy ll Pianos ??? new
      #993040 - 15/06/12 03:17 PM
Hi

I recently purchased the Galaxy ll and Vintage D Sample Libraries from Best service. I installed both Libraries completed the registration process and began playing. All the pianos sound great and play just fine except the the Bosendorfer Vienna Grand, where in the high end the 84th key G#/A flat is "missing" this is in the Compact Version NOT the nki Version which is fine.

I spent hours in Kontakt 4s system and configuration settings trying to resolve this but no change. I re- booted the system and even uninstalled and re-installed the Vienna Grand all over again thinking this would solve the missing note, but still no change.

The note is not completely dead but almost silent in the background (No Dynamics) regardless of how hard the key is pressed (as if the sample has lost it's velocity all together)

I can only assume now that this is an Manufacturing error in production and will be contacting Best Service to return the product.

Could anyone shed some light on this assuming you have either played or own the G2 Pianos.

What do Best Service say? There's a contact email and phone number at
http://www.bestservice.de/service.asp/technical_support/en

If it's a bug in the sample set they can probably provide a patch, or an updated version.

Hi EW

It's nothing to do with MIDI configuration as all has been checked, and it's not my Yamaha P155 as this was brand new out the store recently. It's definitely an error on disc installation, but how this can happen on big manufacturing i don't know ? surly GI have a test department to to confirm all discs are good to go before distribution of retail. How do you mean they can update the patch ? are you saying this is possible to fix without having to return the product ?

If you're certain your equipment (or the way you're using it) isn't at fault, this sounds like a slip-up in the programming of that particular bit of the sample set. Another copy of the disk will have the same fault. Rather than recalling and re-issuing all the disks, this sort of thing is typically delt with by issuing a software patch, often a downloadable one.

Your first step, as I said, is to contact the maker. Have you? What did they say?

I contacted best Service Tech Support the providers of the plugin and explained the situation so I'm waiting on their reply. As you say hopefully they will provide a new patch in the sample and send as a download without the need to return the product.

Is there a chance they would do this ?

Chances are the patch came out some time ago - maybe check the "support" section of their website.

I've told you several times this is quite likely!

Anyway, apart from a natural desire to have everything working completely, is this a show-stopper? Do you NEED the compact version of this piano? Why wouldn't you be using the full version?

Good point! G2 is my first plugin purchase and when loading any piano in Kontakt 4 there is a choice between nki or compact version, what is the difference between the two ?

The compact version will presumably be one or more of:

- uses less RAM
- uses less CPU
- quicker to load

The full version may sound slightly better.

A .nki file is simply a Kontakt program - doesn't say whether it's full or compact.

I'm simply not getting the picture here.

Exalted Wombat stated, (Do you NEED the compact version of this piano? Why wouldn't you be using the full version?

I purchased the complete box set of Galaxy ll and the Vintage D Sample Libraries, surely they must be the "full versions" ?
Why would they of given me anything else ? How do i confirm the difference between a "compact version" and a "full version"

You're not listening to what people are telling you! It's common to provide alternative configurations of a sample set - one being a "lite" version that uses less memory, less resources. Isn't there any documentation that explains the two versions?

Anyway, perhaps you've had an answer from the manufacturers by now. What did they say?

No. Each time i load a piano in G2 there are always 2 options, nki or compact, so nki must be the full version ???
