I've got a JCM2000 100W jobbie that I use for gigging but it's just too loud to crank at
home. I've always wanted a JCM800 and I've always wanted a small recording amp that I can
crank.
Seems perfect for me. I've ordered one and will report back on my
findings.

Quote _ Six _: Think so? I
thought £600 quid was okay for a 1W all tube JCM 800... hand built in England.
I agree. That's a very fair
price for a proper, hand built tube amp. 1W is a very useful power bracket within the
studio or domicile. Look forward to your review. The less cynical might even think its
designed as a genuine tribute to the late Jim Marshall, probably more lovingly assembled
than most of their UK built products and even likely to maintain value for its
collectibility/rarity (depending on how many they are turning out - its going to be a fair
few I would imagine, at that money).

Hope it works out well for you However, I
would really want to try one first. A JCM 800 has 7 valves. This will not. That's an
obvious difference but what others will there be? I live in hope that it's a little
cracker which makes you 100% happy but, as the design has to be almost entirely different
then I would be very wary of buying it on the name alone! They will make enough of them
and better to try it out first IMO just in case it does not 'do it' for you.
I
also take the previous point wbout hand assembled as opposed to hand built. It IS
possible to do this in England for <£600 for a hand built, British design made on
turret board with no PCB's
http://www.matamp.co.uk/minimat-3rd-generation/minimat-mini-rock/ and
it's £529 delivered. They do other variants that are slightly cheaper. Built in dummy
load for squirting direct into impulses and an attenuator for your speaker cab as they are
louder than you'd think.
Will it sound like a JCM 800? No. But there is a
distinct possibility that the 1W Marshall won't either..... I hope I'm wrong for your
sake here
