Decor on Top of Monitors new

Would placing things on top of monitors(such as lava lamps) affect the performance ?

Probably not — if you can't hear any rattling because of, for example, an uneven lava-lamp base then you'll probably be fine. They do get quite hot though, so watch out for that if they're active speakers because there's a slim chance the amps might overheat. A more likely problem is that you end up staring at the lava lamp for too long and start seeing the hidden messages. A cup of tea and a lie-down tends to solve that, though.

If you're at all worried by the possibility of vibration, just afix your lava lamps with three small lumps of Bluetak

If the lava lamp uses a normal incandescent bulb then the bulb won't last as long thanks to the vibration.

and good point didn't think of the vibtrations affecting the life of the bulb I'll have to take that into consideration.
