Any views on D.A.V Electronics .

I am investigating some pre-amps and compressors and after advice on another thread have just been checking out products by D.A.V Electronics in London, especially the BG1 pre, BG6 comp and 501 series 500 pre. Are these as good value as they look. Any experiences of using them and the quality of the units? Thanks for any tips.

When I was in the gear pimping business, I sold loads of DAV kit and never once had a complaint.

You will not find masses of expensive and esoteric components inside, but they do what they say on the tin.

We've reviewed most of the DAV products and all have impressed in terms of sound quality, construction and value for money. It's all good stuff!

no-nonsense, no-frills construction. great sonic and build quality, both for the price and per se.

put it this way: you don't see an awful lot of them on the second hand market.

I used to have their 2 channel "brick" style preamp - it was perfect, when I pulled off and broke a push button they posted me another for free, and I sold it (for some reason...!), for almost what it cost new, 1 year later. I thought it was a total triumph of usefulness over w**kiness
