Question about Latency in Logic Pro 9

Hi All
I will hopefully be getting my first Mac soon and I intend to run Logic on it.
I will be inputting my guitar through an M-Audio Profire 610
interface to record into Logic.
My question is,will their be any latency
when recording this way?
Thanks

There is always latency in native systems, due to the way audio drivers buffer audio. As long as you perform the correct record delay offset, Logic should place your
audio at the correct point. Don't put latency inducing plugins on busses or
masters when tracking either. There is a good Apple article regarding latency here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1314http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1213

On the transport bar there's a 'latency' icon which I click when recording. Without doing
that there's a noticeable delay in the monitor/headphones when recording guitar and bass.
Unclick it to play back.

That's "low
latency mode" - it just disables any latency inducing plugins and is a quick way to
disable them while tracking to avoid latency plugins.

Thanks for the replies.
Now if Apple would get their finger out and decide if
they are releasing an iMac update or not, then I can get some recording done.

Well I will give it till the end of July.
I have waited long enough for my
first Mac,and for running Logic I don't think I need a high end computer.

FYI,
"The Times’s David Pogue wrote in a piece that ran soon after
Apple’s WWDC 2012 keynote on Monday. “An executive did assure me, however, that new
models and new designs are under way, probably for release in 2013.”

I must admit that I am confused regarding the rumours of an interim update, and that the
main retina and possible redesign will appear in 2013. It would be just my luck to
buy now, only to find a model with USB 3 and a few other things is released.
As
I said,I will wait till Mountain Lion is released, then if no update I will get an iMac.
