What are the performance parameters of the Piano and the mapping of these parameters to MIDI?

Yeah course assignment how did you guess void(0)

I have to write a report on this but im not sure what they mean by performance parameters i cant seem to find anything on the web regarding my query so i would like to get some info or definition on this to get me started, I would really appreciate it.

So, sit at a piano.

Or if you don't have one, imagine you are sat at one.

How do you make a sound? What do you physically have to do? How do you make a quiet sound? How do you make a high pitched sound? How do you make a low pitched sound? How do you make a loud sound? What else can you do? (Hint: feet)

Make a list.

Then look at your MIDI spec and think how that might map to your list.

Job done

Good point - I kinda forgot the basics by the time you're getting into hammer/felt voicings, individual string tunings etc...
