Wurlitzer (200A) Style - Amp SKreeeeCH! Troubles new
      #853053 - 12/08/10 01:39 AM
Hey boys and girls.

I have 2 Wurlitzers. One is a (200A) one is 200A Style, But Heavier keys, Wood Cabinet.

Both make the same horrible, INTERMITTENT screech. The wood one just started Last night and tonight.

I know little, Willing to learn(Have to I guess :P).. from what I've read it's likely weak signal/Short.

I have a gig tommorow.

Can I bypass the amp entirely, wire to a 1/4 inch out to another working amp?

Thanks All.

On my Wurltizer there are 2 outputs - one is a low level output that seems to come direct from the pickups while the other is a headphone output. Try using the low level output with a suitable preamp.

Could you play whichever one is not screeching at any given instant?

Its not clear if the problem is in the amp or in the keyboard. That would be the first thing to determine. How long does the screeching last for? If you disconnect the cable does it go away?

What sort of pitch is the screeching at and is it a pure sound or a noisy sound.
