Clicks and Pops on Playback only? new
      #966791 - 27/01/12 04:38 PM
I'm recording in via my USB Interface (Edirol UA-25EX) fine into Acid Pro and Soundforge.

But when I play back, I get these intermittent blips, electrical spikes and clicks? It seems to be playback only, as there's nothing on the actual waveform and they change and move around on each successive play??

I have done all of Martins XP tweaks, and am running a fw400 7200rpm drive for audio.

Is there a simple solution to getting rid of clicks on playback?

It might be that you need to make your buffer number bigger on your audio card. Maybe make it as big as you can just for testing purposes, then play back and see if the extra noise goes away.

If that doesn't help you can always put it back to the original number and move on in your search.

If it does help, it might be that you have too many processes going on for your computer - VSTi's , etc.

Thanks but no VST's playing here, its just audio recording only and no plug ins.

My soundcard is 512 buffer as default and was always fine.. maybe I should go up to 1024?

Hi TD!

Very few people should have to resort to an audio interface buffer size of 1024

Have you tried running the freeware DPC Latency CHecker utility yet?

There's a sticky thread of its own to see previous results that others have got here:

www.soundonsound.com/forum/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=588140

This will help you track down any driver that’s occasionally taking more than its fair share of resources and producing audio glitches.
