Hi Sid!
Here are a few suppliers to get you started:
www.cliffuk.co.uk/products/knobs/index.htm
www.bitsbox.co.uk/resistors/potentiometers.html
This one
from bitsbox isn't too far off the Tubetech 'look'
www.jhs.co.uk/guitartechparts.html#knobs
This one from
John Hornby Skewes is the business though - exactly what you were searching for, and only
£8.99 for a packet of three!

Have you checked CPC/Farnell, Rapid Electronics and RS? CPC is probably the best bet, but
Rapid sometimes has decent stuff at lower prices, and they're a bit cheaper on postage
than CPC. RS is usually a last-ditch effort.

If you can wade through the data, Farnell have a pretty good range. The online search is
painful, but the print catalogue is more useful I find.

My pleasure
After taking another look I noticed it says the packet is three is '2 Large/1Small', so
if you want loads of one size that could be wasteful
If I can find out any more I'll let you know.
P.S. At £6.99 they are
cheaper here:

Here are some more Retro knob links:
United States
I hadn't realised that the black knobs Sid originally asked for were from Fender, but
here they are again described as '001-9455-000 LARGE SKIRTED KNOB FOR USA JAGUAR &
MUSTANG GUITAR & USA JAZZ BASS', along with plenty more knobs of quality for our US
members. Elsewhere I've seen them described as 'MXR Style' and the two diameters are 3/4"
and 1":
www.guitarpartsresource.com/guitarknobs_fender.htm
Superb
range here - the most comprehensive I've seen so far:
http://www.smallbearelec.com/Categories.bok?category=Knobs&searchpath=
2475946&start=9&total=61
Anyone looking for something unusual
should take a peek here (18 karat Gold, Skulls ):
http://qparts.com/index.php?cPath=20
UK
These are really good value:
www.ampmaker.com/control-panels-and-knobs-1283-0.html
Another good range here:
www.axesrus.com/axenob.htm#Knobs
Plenty here at Maplin
with good prices:
www.maplin.co.uk/searchtemplate.asp?criteria=POTENTIOMETER

Digi-Key is a few miles down the road, & has access to an insanely huge selection of
parts. Here's their search-page for knobs: http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Cat=2097177&k=kno
bsThey're a major supplier to manufacturers in Japan, Korea, & China.
Often their prices are much cheaper than from guitar-parts vendors.

This sticky knob thread is good. I recently got a home made pedal and the knobs are a
pretty average. Some big Pultec/Moog style ones would make it look a lot better, but may
cost more than the pedal itself!

OK, not a link, BUT....
If you really want a Moog/Pultec/whatever knob there's no harm in approaching your local
dealer and asking them to order spare parts/replacements
