Hi!
I wonder how the fine distortion is made in the song "How Soon Is Now".
I've heard this effect on several new releases. I've experimented
a lot with
distortion myself, making industrial-like music. But this
is a soft distortion
effect, which doesnt sound like a guitar
distortion. What is a bit similar is the
Compressor in Logic when
switched to soft-clipping. But that one is not strong
enough. Switched
hard clipping is too strong.
How is this sound made?
Tube Preamps? Tube Compressors?
And I like to reproduce it live. Does anybody know a
good
mic and preamp/distortion box/compressor combination
to use vocal
distortion live? I've tested already guitar
distortion boxes and mic with a switch,
which is not a
good solution. When I hear distortion then a lot
of feedback
appears. Are there better ways to get
distortion on vocals?
