Be careful of naughty people like Idris - he tells fibs!! I have that very
synth. I picked mine up from an ebay auction for around the 3-400 mark a couple of years
ago and they have held their price since then. The case alone should keep it at the higher
end of that range as well. My advice is to try the Readers' Ads here before
giving in to the horrors of eBay. If I had the spare change, I'd have it myself!

If you have an ebay account, you can check completed listings in the advanced search,
which should help you gauge the market price.

Ok chaps thanks for the replies and im aware of Idris and his dodgy antics! haha i will
post on Readers Ads and see what sort of response i get! the main reason for selling is to
get a Triton Le as i love the arps and seqs built in which is handy for quick song writing
unless someone has something similar for a Part Ex? maybe a top notch bontempi! or Casio
hahaha

EEEEEKKKKK!!!
Before you do this _please_ try both machines side by
side. I realise that an arp may be funky and fun, but the Triton is not the same as the
Trinity! The Trinity will _definitely_ sound better 9 times out of 10. Any decent synth
head who knows their beans will tell you this (and geeks like me can go into _why_ it
sounds better).
I'm not trying to sound condescending here - just trying to
stop you doing something that you may well regret in a couple of months time.....

Strangely enough, I was having a chat to a compadre (amigo,m8,friend,pal) about the
Trinity pads/strings and how moist they are. The Triton doesn't sound anywhere
near as good.

ok good points of view from all over! well its on readers Ads so if nothing comes of it
ill keep the Trinity! but i know what your saying! the Trinity is a superb synth! maybe i
should keep it and buy something to go along side it! instead like a Fantom X8? but well
see what happens! thanks everyone for there input!
so what keys does everyone
use? and good points? and bad?

Mainly Cmajor but some Aminor as well..... Studio : Trinity Plus, K2500R, XV5050, JD990 Live : Kurzweil PC3 plus an occasional
Wavestation Plus : JD800, Z1, JD880 and another K2500R handy but not plummed in - oh,
and a Fairlight series II Trinity : great strings and pads, clear sound, piano is shonky, sound is a little thin
but can be boosted by clever FX usage PC3 : great everything, oodles of
polyphony, sounds amazing, brilliant all rounder - will be even better when the new
version comes out that can read K-series programmes and has sample memory Z1 :
great sound and incredibly versatile synth, but tedious to programme. Keep meaning to sell
it XV5050 : same engine as the Fantoms so sound is ok if you can get on with
the 'Roland sound' (a little middly and a tad over bright) K2500R : was top
banana but the newer PC3 has shown it to be a tad brighter than it needs to be - this is
mainly due to the older FX. Still awesome though. As to suggestions as to what
to buy, it depends on what you feel is missing from your sound. I'd recommend checking out
one of the Nord Lead series - I was very impressed with the Nord Lead 2x as it is a good
_synth_ rather than a workstation. Sounded great. But if I wanted something cheap and good
all-round, I'd get a second hand K2000 and use it's sample memory for anything that it was
lacking. Just a general note : we keep mentioning Kurzweils round here and
people keep coming back with the 'but they don't sound so impressive' argument. Yes -
that's the whole point : a good synth should sound right in a mix, not a shop. That's the
issue with Triton's - they sound very impressive in a demo, but it's all a big noise in a
mix or live. Your Trinity is a darned good synth. Something else will
complement it and give you a really good setup, but try and work out what you need first.
I've wasted too much money over the years in a 'it was a good idea at the time' moments.
Please don't make the same mistake...

How many
times do I have to tell you? I can drop your JD back to you and use the Z1 if you like.
Don't sell it m8. Brass, tinkly sounds and the comb filter make it adamant that you keep
the child (don't forget the x/y pad as well).
I just don't know anymore.

Unless you're in dire need of ca$h hang onto the TRINITY
If you do not have to part
with the TRINITY / MOSS Board keep it!
KORG installed some of the prettiest
(factory) Strings, Pads & Choirs along with Synth Leads
In time with other
keyboards you buy the TRINITY will have what's missing in patch banks of your evolving
keyboard collection.....If you get rid of it, you'll be sorry you did
In time the
decision to keep the Synths you buy will lessen the buy /sell upgrade path

A "Trinity Plus" has the monophonic Solo board installed (1-voice Korg Prophecy
emulation), not a polyphonic Moss board (6-vioce Korg Z1 emulation).
The
Moss board (Z1 emulation) for Trinity came later, and they were released under the
"Trinity V3" moniker.
However the Solo board had an extra dedicated effects
engine, where the Moss had to use the normal Trinity effects. The Solo board sounded
slightly more analogue to my ears (or it could've been the dedicated distortion), but the
1-voice limitation puts me off from having it installed all the time.
Prices.. probably £300-400.
The Trinity's worth more than that, so I'd
keep it. As mentioned the pads are luscious. I also love the XY joystick and XZ ribbon.
... If only it had an arp'.
Got a PBS-TRI (8mb flash-rom playback sampler)
for mine, and it feels like a new synth every time I load it up with new samples.
