MIDI keyboard: one key is almost silent new

hi
i have a roland A37 midi keyboard controller.
A few months ago, i noticed one key didnt work as normal.
It only triggers a sound when REALLY pressing hard, almost breaking pressure: and even then the sound it triggers is really low...

I have tried resetting it to factory settings, but still its as above.

Ive tried in logic, and ableton on pc, same problem.

Does it sound like a faulty keyboard?

I did purchase a UC33 midi controller a few months ago, and was testing programming settings, not knowing what i was doing, but i dont think i did anything with the keyboard.

Or maybe i should re-install the computer software sequencers?

any ideas anyone?

OK, first of all the A37 is reasonably ancient now, so you don't have to worry about the warranty.

And it's either going to be an electrical problem, or a mechanical one.

If it was me, I would carefully take it apart, give it a thorough clean, and put it back together again. It might be a piece of dirt or something sticky interfering with the problem key. If that doesn't fix it, then you have to decide whether it's worth spending the money on getting it repaired, or putting that money towards a replacement.

...yeah, very likely it has one of those rubber contact strips which needs cleaning up with some Deoxit or similar.

thanks people,
but the thought of opening it up frightens me.

yes it is a bit old. semi weighted keys.
ill have a think of selling it and getting a more light weight modern midi keyboard.

this a37 is HUGE.

Remember, you won't be able to sell it for much with a dodgy key...

I use my brother's Roland A30. He stopped using it because half the controls didn't work, and he prefers his Roland stage piano... It has worked like a dream since I stripped it down and serviced it
