Will this pedal do what I want?
      #877584 - 26/11/10 10:19 PM
I am thinking of buying this pedal:

I want to control my Roland SH-201 with this pedal. I want to mainly be able to control the filter with this pedal.

Here is a link to the SH-201 if you want to see the specs:

If anyone has any suggestions that would be great as well.

I had a quick look at the link to the Roland page you supplied but couldn't find a pdf manual that easily.

The short answer is that the Behringer is a very well featured MIDI floor controller that does far more than you need. But to be certain you need to be sure that the Roland will allow you to map the filter parameters you need to a MIDI continuous Controller. If you can, then no problem, but check the MIDI implementation chart to be certain.

Thank you for the help. I took a look at the midi chart.

I'm not completely sure what I'm looking at here. I'm guessing this is the spec that I need.

00 13 | 0aaa aaaa | FILTER Cutoff Frequency (0 — 127)

You are almost there, but there is an easier way to understand.

Page 72 of the SH-201 manual has the info you need. Filter cutoff is mapped to MIDI CC number 74. On the Behringer pedal just allocate that controller number to one of the treadle pedals. And according to the manual, it's pretty straightforward to do that.

Hope that helps
