Summary of modulation based synthesis new
      #918217 - 05/06/11 08:47 AM
Hi all

Here's what I think about AM,RM and FM. May you please check if I'm right?

Consider A1=a1cos(w1t) is your carier(main) wave and A2=a2cos(w2t) is the modulator wave.
* AM or amplitude modulation happens when A1=(a1+A2)cos(w1t) that is a very fast tremolo.
* FM or frequency modulation occurs when A1=a1cos((w1+A2)t) which is a very fast vibrato.
* RM or ring modulation is A1=a1cos(w1(t+A2)) that means modulator output A2 is serially passed through carier input t.

Regards

Homework? HAHA. Well I thout it's the fastest way to write down what I think.
I live in Tabriz-Iran. Why? does affect my modulation math?

Others please answer my question.
Thanks.

Nope. I am from Iran as well. But hey, I'll let others answer for you.

Best of luck.

Ring modulation is non-linear so its basically AM but with a lot more harmonics.

Is ring modulation really a kind of AM? I don't think so! How can you prove that? Can you please write a formula or at least say a more exact phrase?
