Switch to run PC & Mac on one Apple Cinema display?
      #392527 - 12/12/06 03:17 PM

Can i get something that will let me run my tower pc and my G5 on my G5's 20" Cinema display?

So if i use logic, then want to switch to Gigastudio on the pc, can i just use the one monitor if the PC is compatible with the Cinema display?

Also could this idea be exapnded to use just one set of keybaord and mouse?? ie: the Mac keyboard and mac "mighty mouse" to control the PC through the Cinema display?

(hope that all made sense?!)

I'm abit concerned the specs say "VGA and DVI-I (with VGA adapter)", which kinda suggests it wants to convert the perfect digital DVI signal feeding the cinema display into old-fashioned analogue VGA.

Whether this is noticable on a 20" display is another question.

And I might have read the belkin info wrong.

Dunno if this is relevant, but a different solution might be to run the PC headless and access it via Remote Desktop (RDP) using the Microsoft Remote Desktop client for OSX. This makes the PC appear as a window on the mac desktop. I do this at work and it's fine. At least until the PC fails to boot normally and you need to attach a physical keyboard/monitor...

There are probably free things (e.g VNC) that do similar.
