Imperfect Samples Setup Help Please!?
      #913648 - 11/05/11 10:14 AM
Hi all,

I've downloaded the Imperfect Samples Schimmel Braunschweig Upright from Matt Stedeman but am having massive issues getting it working. I've tried using Logic's EXS24 as suggested on the website but can not get the release samples to play properly.

As an alternative to this I've tried using Imperfect Samples' own player but it won't open up for me as a plugin after installation as the company implies it should.

Has anyone else any experience with Imperfect Samples products, and more importantly, the setup process?

Any help would be hugely appreciated because I LOVE the sound of this Piano if it's anywhere near as good as the demos suggest but it makes me sad that I can't get it in my life because the computer says "no".

Thanks in advance,

Alun Roberts

Can't help I'm afraid except to say I too found the download process to pc/cubase a headache and ended up using the buggy and awful imperfect samples player as I don't have the full kontakt.

However I can say that it is worth it - it is a fantastic library.

Have you contacted Imperfect Samples for advice?

I haven't done that yet as I assumed I was just being dim and didn't want to bother them with something that could turn out to be trivial, but if I get no success on these here forums I think I'll be resorting to that.

Contact them first.

For a start, they'll probably know better and secondly, threads like this aren't good publicity for them especially when it could just be something silly you are (or aren't) doing your end.

If you had a problem with your brand new car, you'd be off to the showroom in a shot (well... I'd hope you would!). No difference here.

Now, IF Imperfect Samples can't sort you out, THEN take it to the forums.

I bought the Braunschweig library recently, and had problems installing it and the Imperfect Samples Player for use with Cubase. I contacted them and got a response very quickly from Matt at IS. He stayed in touch until the problem was resolved (it turned out to be a problem with the download - one corrupted sample threw the whole thing out of whack!) Really, I don't think the support could have been much better, and the piano sounds wonderful. I'm actually a bit miffed that everybody's starting to find out about it!

@Matt at Imperfect - can we expect to see any other instruments than pianos any time soon?

+1 for hollowsun's advice. Decent companies will want to know about problems so they can fix them for the benefit of all customers. Whether it is a change to the code, or simply updating the manual, it all makes a difference. And don't forget that the customer service is part of the product you purchase, it's there for you to use.

Indeed it is - Alun, if you don’t want to be seen as doing something dim then surely it’s better to have this conversation in confidence with the developer rather than in public for the whole world to gawp at as we are at the moment
