Just curious if the 1:3 rule still applies to shotgun(s)(Mics obviously) for live use.
Because of their focused pickup pattern I am not sure what an ideal spacing would be for
them, as it stands right now I am using 6 across the front of a stage(Yes as boundry mics,
trust me it is nessecary, PCCs wont work due to center cluster placement, and moving the
cluster is not an option). Those 6 are layed out in pairs of 2, in a setup similar to the
X/Y setup for mics. RIght now there is about the same amount of room between the mics as
I expect to cover away from them onto the stage, so I am wondering how bad I am screwing
myself over in as far as phase problems. Its hard to tell since most of the time I only
use them if a wireless lav goes out, then only one or two at a time usually, and I use all
of them for an ambient like pickup during songs.
