The problem I always had with bouncing though is that it bounces to 24 bit (or 16 depending on the project) which means you have to be careful with your gain structure - doesn't the cubase one keep it at 32 bit float, so the sound doesn't change whatever you do.
I didn't see whether S4 did this though.
Good point - there is an extra dither. But it is not a huge loss 32 to 24 one extra time on part of the track. I bet you could improve most peoples recording chains more by focussing on other matters.
