I am not the brightest when it comes to routing signal paths, till now I have simply had a set outputs from my mixer going to the inputs on my pc soundcard and the outputs on my soundcard going to either my amp or back to the mixer 'tape in' depending on what I am doing. ie. Recording or monitoring/mixing.
I am pretty sure I can set my gear up so that I can monitor through the amp and the mixer simultaneously but up till now I had thought I was limited by the outputs on the soundcard. It didn't occur to me that the mixer could solve this for me..
If I route the main outputs on the mixer to the analog inputs on the soundcard (an emu 0404), then the analog outputs on the soundcard to say, the 'tape in' on the mixer and then the 'control room out' from the mixer to the aux channel on my amp..Would I be able to monitor through the amp and mixer/headphones simultaneously?
I am aware that this is probably all very simple and straight forward and I appear quite dim, but I would appreciate any help. Up till now it hasn't stopped me from recording so I have just left it this way. The only irritating thing about this set-up being that I had to physically change the leads at the back of the computer to switch between mixer monitoring and speaker monitoring...Which gets quite tiring after a few years...lol
Cheers!
John
