So I've set myself some goals (NB This applies to Ireland, not UK):
To get a song on national radio playlists, get across the board print media coverage (not just music mags), exposure on national TV, all backed up with nationwide gigs all within the same 1-2 month period. A single release will most likely serve as the centre point for all this. The purpose is to build enough momentum and interest to find backing for releasing an album. Which is when the real work can begin...
I have enough experience to not be naive about this and am well aware that promoting the song will cost far more than recording it. I've also got some pretty decent contacts as I work at fairly high level in the concert/event industry. I'd welcome any thoughts from anyone who has tried this and had it either fail or work. Or even if you just want to throw in your 0.02 cent worth, go ahead. I'm not too proud to busk again!
