seems not as flexible as the free HybridAlien MidiGate which allows you to simply trigger the inserted gate from any midi track, so you can for example copy a hi-hat pattern to a new track and assign that tracks destination to midigate and thus make it clone any pattern in your composition as a gate trigger - or create a new dedicated trigger pattern, whatever, it's not limited to 16 steps
